"So no one wants to deal with family law matters. I'm an attorney and most attorneys I know (including myself) don't want to deal with family law matters. They can be heartbreaking and emotionally draining. You are dealing with people at possibly the worst point in their lives when they are absolutely the most vulnerable. Worse, the system you have to help your clients with is simply not well-equipped to properly address the issues in front of them. It's usually a lose-lose situation. Out of respect for my stepchildren and the fact that this is a public post, I won't go into the specifics of my family's situation. All I will say is that my husband and I needed someone that could handle incredibly complex matters - complex in regards to both financial and custody matters. It was almost impossible to find an attorney well versed in both, with an actual heart, and that also didn't cost a fortune. We worked with a few different attorneys over the course of 10 years - from solo practitioners to big Chicago firms - Rachel and Sandy were hands-down the best we had the opportunity to work with. As a lawyer myself, I am automatically a fussier client. After all, knowing the rules and procedures for litigation, I can easily spot when an attorney is being sloppy or working the system to make a buck in what is, after all, a for-profit system. I never once had any issues with Rachel or Sandi's billings or how they recommended handling things. Because of the two of them, we are hopefully done with what has been a decade of litigation!!"
